Technical Collaborations - Cambridge - Smart City

The Maker Challenge project was a multi-disciplinary attempt to develop Internet of Things solutions in response to Cambridge’s problems around environment/pollution, quality of life and transport/mobility. Leading a team of five; technologist, council data-analysist, web designer and film-maker we used available data around flood analysis and planning to address scenarios of possible future environmental success/catastrophe.

The team envisaged an interactive webspace with different entry points for access to different worlds that operated in Minecraft or other platforms. A Minecraft model was developed and exhibited. Modeling was based upon accurate data of the site and predications of change and constructed to scale. It was presented for the public to interact with, both at the Cambridge University Science Festival, and online. The Arts Council supported the project. http://www.collusion.org.uk/Maker-Challenge#MinecraftCambridge
