Technical Collaborations - Green energy - Barber Shop

Initial presentation of the system was made at the Sustainability Institute of Anglia Ruskin University in 2015. Throughout the year the mobile Pedal Powered Barber Shop toured the UK.

Festival venues included the Cambridge Strawberry Fair, Big Weekend, Folk Festival and the Green Gathering in Chepstow. This was an experiment and demonstration in public engagement with the concept of small scale power generation enabling people to understand the energy necessary to generate a steady 30watts of electricity and to run hair clippers (10w each) lights and sound system. Online social media allowed for further engagement and tracking of audience/participants. Many thousands of people engaged with the installation and a range of ‘festival’ haircuts were developed! The work was made with Oblique Arts and the lead technician was Mike Playle. http://www.facebook.com/pedalpoweredbarbers
